If your property uses LittleBird Smart Home technology, it’s important to understand basic Smart Home issues and their solutions.
Unresponsive Devices and Wireless Sensors
If a device or wireless sensor is responding slowly or fails to respond to prompts from the LittleBird mobile app, try the following troubleshooting techniques:
Check the device or wireless sensor’s batteries. Changing the batteries often has an immediate effect on the response time and functionality of these devices.
Here’s a list of replacement batteries types according to their appropriate device:
Smart Lock: 4 AA batteries
Thermostat: 4 AA batteries
Door sensor: 1 CR12600SE battery
Motion sensor: 1 CR123A battery
Confirm that the wireless receiver located on the front of the unit’s Smart Home Controller is plugged into the panel correctly as pictured.
If the wireless receiver was not correctly attached, plug it back in appropriately and wait five minutes before rechecking wireless device functionality and reporting.
If the wireless receiver was connected properly, replace the wireless receiver by calling LittleBird Support at 1-602-607-4620 to begin the return process.
Remove and re-add z-wave devices.
Remove any unresponsive light switch, door lock, or thermostat by placing them in removing mode and following the un-pair process described in the product’s manual.
Note: Be sure to replace the batteries prior to trying this step.
Unresponsive Wired Sensors
If a wired sensor is responding slowly or fails to respond to prompts from the LittleBird mobile app, double check that the sensor’s wiring, which is connected directly to the Smart Home Controller, includes the provided resistor wires in series with the positive lead of your sensor.
Lack of Signaling Between Sensors and Smart Home Controller
Wired and wireless sensors function similarly as both require magnets to complete a circuit and send open and closed signals to the Smart Home Controller. If your sensor is failing to send signals to the Smart Home Controller, check each sensor location to ensure that a magnet is present in both points of contact (ex: door and door frame, window and winder frame).
General Device and Sensor Issues
If your devices or sensors are still malfunctioning after attempting all of the previous steps, check that the Smart Home Controller is properly powered by ensuring that:
The AC transformer, which is normally located in the same central wiring panel as the unit’s Smart Home Controller, is plugged in and displays an illuminated LED power light.
The AC transformer’s positive and negative terminals are appropriately wired.
Wiring to the Smart Home Controller is properly connected to DC positive and negative screw terminals, matching the positive and negative wires on the transformer.
