Modified on Wed, 31 Jul at 6:07 AM

This guide outlines the steps to add the Smart Home Panel and Devices to the site web portal. The total installation time may vary depending on which devices you are adding to your panel.

Install a new panel

This quick step-by-step guide will help you onboard iComLNC panels and answer some common questions.

  1. Open your white box containing the panel.

  2. Remove the cover and locate the green power strip that houses multiple terminals.

  3. Locate the first two openings labeled + DC -.

  4. Plug the red wire from your transformer into the + and the black wire into the - terminal.

Plug the Cat 5e cable into the port in the middle of the panel. Wait about 20 seconds for the panel to power up and look for the green lights on the board along with a random blinking orange light.

For power confirmation, look for a green LED on the panel as shown below:

For network confirmation, look for green activity lights on the ethernet port, as shown below:

Once the panel appears online, grab the box and locate the IMEI number on the front of the box. This number often begins with 89148xxxxxxxxxxxxx.

Locate the serial number for the panel, which is found on the board itself or the box at the lower right-hand corner. This number often begins with 001555xxxx.

After completing the steps listed above, proceed to the software onboarding steps.

Note: The House Code will automatically generate and does not require you to change this field.

Troubleshooting Guide

Listed below are some common issues found when onboarding panels and their fixes.

First, verify your information.

The first and most common problem is information that has been entered incorrectly.  Verify your typed and entered information and redo the step-by-step process to Add New Panel to see if that fixes the problem.

An error occurred when adding a panel.

If prompted with this error, click Edit Panel > Cancel > Add New Panel and repeat the onboarding process.

An error occurred while refreshing the panel.

Restart the panel by pulling the power, or holding the “RESET” button for 15 seconds.  Wait 1 minute for the panel to fully boot (2 minutes for cellular connections, and then click try again at least two times.  If both times bring you back to this error, please notate this on the property onboarding form. This is most likely an error due to an incorrect Account Number that will require a digital keypad to correct this issue.

The panel is not showing up when I search for the Serial Number.

The panel may have had an issue occur while it was onboarding. Please verify the serial number entered is correct and try once more. If the board is still not listed below, mark an X, the property name, and the word bad on the IMEI sticker. Then proceed to fill out the property onboarding form and highlight the serial number in red.

An outlet failed to pair.

To reset the outlet, press the center button 3 times. Then, press and hold the center button for at least 3 seconds. The indicator light will blink 5 times to confirm.

Multiple Devices are preloaded on the controller

Devices purchased prior to Jan 1, 2024 have a bug from the factory on them, where QA devices are pre-loaded.  You’ll need to initialize zwave to resolve this.

To intialize z-wave:

  1. Plug in a keypad to the PROG port on the iCom

  2. Press and release the reset button, and type in 2313

  3. Press the CMD button until you sese “Zwave Init” (Zwave initialize)

  4. Press 1 of the top 4 buttons until the process starts

  5. Let it complete the process and press CMD until you exit the menu

  6. Pull the keypad, wait 1 minute, and refresh the page on your mobile device

  7. No devices should be listed, and you can resume pairing

Issues Pairing Devices

If your Z-Wave Smart Home Device does not pair to the controller, try these steps:

  1. Verify that the controller is online.  If the controller is set to cellular-only communication it may take multiple tries to pair if the signal is weak.

  2. Pair the device again. Try to remove the device first, reinstall, and then try to pair the device again. Some devices such as Kwikset locks may come from their manufacturer paired with some other system, so unpairing and re-pairing a device is required.

  3. Factory reset the device. (Refer to the manufacturer’s documentation  to factory reset your Z-Wave device.)

  4. Need a replacement? If multiple devices are not pairing to the controller, you may need a replacement controller. Please contact LittleBird Support.

If your device isn’t working, or if it only works sporadically, contact LittleBird Support.  1-844-717-3777

Verifying the panel is online

If the panel is showing offline you may see a red crossed out WIFI icon next to the device.  Below are the steps to verify that the panel is online and active.

  1. In the search field at the top of the page, enter the serial number for the panel you just onboarded.

  2. You should see the panel in the dropdown menu. If you do not, please refer to the troubleshooting guide above.

  3. Click the button to the right of the unit # labeled View Panel. This will present you with a spinning LittleBird logo while the panel loads.

  4. Once the logo finishes spinning and the page loads, you should be presented with a detailed page showing information and a greyed-out area labeled No Devices Found.

  5. Click on Add Device found in the upper right-hand corner of the page.

  6. Once you see Select Device Type, you are finished, and you can click on devices on the left-hand side to begin onboarding a new panel.
